Ramban, June 23, KNT: Security forces on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive mock drill at the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) Yatri Niwas at Chanderkote in Ramban district as part of preparedness measures for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The exercise involved personnel from the Indian Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Officials said the joint drill focused on testing coordination among various security and emergency response agencies tasked with ensuring the safety of pilgrims during the annual pilgrimage.
As part of the exercise, security personnel carried out combing and area-dominance operations around the Yatri Niwas complex to assess operational readiness and response capabilities in the event of any potential threat.
The drill also evaluated communication channels, coordination mechanisms and the effectiveness of standard operating procedures among participating agencies.
Officials said such exercises are being conducted at key locations along the pilgrimage route to strengthen preparedness and ensure swift response to any contingency during the yatra.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 3, with security and civil agencies continuing to review arrangements across the Jammu and Kashmir regions. [KNT]
