Srinagar, Mar 2, KNT: The Kashmir Zone Police on Sunday issued a strong appeal for peace and restraint in view of recent developments in West Asia, urging people to express their views only through lawful and peaceful means.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said that while the right of citizens to peacefully express their views through lawful means is respected, incidents of rioting, stone pelting, clashes and disruption of public order at some places are not acceptable.

The statement cautioned that violence, destruction of property and confrontation with security forces often result in injuries, loss of life, imposition of restrictions and closure of educational institutions, causing hardship to families, traders, students and daily wagers.

Appealing to all sections of society to exercise maximum restraint, the police urged people to refrain from violence and provocation. The spokesperson made it clear that strict legal action would be taken against instigators and those found involved in unlawful activities.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding life and property, stating that maintaining peace and stability remains a priority. [KNT]
