Woman Pilgrim Dies After Falling Unconscious at Bhagwati Nagar Yatra Base Camp

Jammu, July 9, KNT: A 42-year-old woman pilgrim died on Thursday after she fell unconscious at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu before commencing the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

Officials said the woman suddenly collapsed shortly after collecting her RFID card at the base camp. She was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu, where doctors declared her dead.

The deceased has been identified as Geeta Devi, wife of Kaalu, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

Family members said Geeta Devi had completed the registration formalities and collected her RFID card when she suddenly lost consciousness.

One of her relatives said the family would now return home with her body without undertaking the pilgrimage.

The exact cause of death will be ascertained after completion of the medico-legal formalities. [KNT]
