Northern Railway Renames Kathua Railway Station After Slain Army Officer

Jammu, July 18, KNT: Northern Railway has officially renamed the Kathua Railway Station as “Martyr Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary Kathua” in honour of the Army officer who laid down his life in the line of duty.

An official circular issued by the Northern Railway Headquarters stated that the renaming has come into effect immediately. The station will now be known as “Martyr Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary Kathua” Railway Station, with the new alpha code MSKT replacing the earlier code KTHU.

According to the circular, the station’s numerical code will remain unchanged at 03601001, while the revised English and Hindi nomenclature will be adopted across railway records and operational systems.

The order further stated that the necessary changes regarding the station’s name and alpha code have been approved by the competent railway authorities, while all other particulars relating to the station in the “Alphabetical List of Railway Stations in India” will remain unchanged.

Northern Railway has directed all concerned offices and divisions to ensure strict compliance with the revised nomenclature with immediate effect. [KNT]
