Srinagar, July 21, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday extended the summer vacation for all government and recognised private schools in the Kashmir Division and the Winter Zones of Jammu Division till July 26 in view of the prevailing weather conditions.

Announcing the decision, Education Minister Sakina Itoo said the extension had been granted keeping the safety and well-being of students, teachers and their families as the government’s foremost priority.

According to the Minister, schools will now reopen on Monday, July 27.

Sakina Itoo appealed to students, parents, teaching staff and the general public to remain cautious and strictly follow the advisories issued by the concerned authorities in view of the ongoing adverse weather conditions.

She also wished everyone good health and safety, expressing hope that the weather situation would improve in the coming days.

The extension comes amid persistent rainfall across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, which has triggered flash floods, landslides, waterlogging and disruption of normal life in many districts. [KNT]
