Traffic Restored Through Beerwah After Four-Day Disruption Due to Flash Floods

Budgam, July 24, KNT: Vehicular traffic through Beerwah town in central Kashmir’s Budgam district was restored on Saturday after remaining suspended for four days following damage caused to the diversion over Nallah Sukhnag by flash floods.

The diversion was washed away on July 21 after heavy rainfall triggered flash floods in Nallah Sukhnag, disrupting traffic movement and causing inconvenience to commuters, transporters and local residents.

Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), R&B Sub-Division Beerwah, Shabir Ahmad, said restoration work was undertaken on a war footing, with men and machinery deployed round the clock to rebuild the damaged diversion.

Following completion of the repair work, officials conducted a successful trial run of vehicles before reopening the route for public traffic.

The restoration of the diversion has brought much-needed relief to residents, traders, transport operators and commuters who had been facing considerable hardship due to the closure.

Authorities have advised motorists to exercise caution while crossing the restored diversion and to strictly follow traffic advisories, particularly during adverse weather conditions. [KNT]
