Two Army Personnel Injured in Mine Explosion Along LoC in Uri

Baramulla, July 28, KNT: Two Army personnel were injured in a mine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla district on Tuesday, officials said.

The explosion occurred in the vicinity of the Upper Garh Forward Post of 8 Rashtriya Rifles (8 RR), operating under the 12 Infantry Brigade in the Kamalkote sub-sector, which falls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Uri.

The injured personnel were immediately evacuated from the site and airlifted to the Army’s Base Hospital at Badamibagh, Srinagar, where they are undergoing medical treatment.

The injured soldiers have been identified as Dafadar Vijay Kumar (42) and Naik Sharanapa Angari (28).. Both are serving with 8 Rashtriya Rifles.

Officials said the circumstances leading to the mine explosion are being ascertained. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses. [KNT]
