New Delhi, July 31, KNT: Bharti Airtel has introduced a new digital initiative ahead of Friendship Day, enabling customers to recharge an Airtel Prepaid number of a friend and pair it with a personalised digital Friendship Band through the Airtel app.

The feature, available till August 2, allows users to enter a friend’s Airtel Prepaid number, select a recharge plan and complete the transaction before choosing from a range of themed digital Friendship Bands.

The company said customers can select bands carrying titles such as “Gym Buddy,” “Meme Dealer,” “Gedi Partner,” “Foodie Friend,” “Gossip Spiller” and “Free Therapist,” reflecting different kinds of friendships.

Once the recharge is completed, the digital Friendship Band can be shared instantly through WhatsApp or SMS along with a Friendship Day greeting. Messages shared through SMS can also include the sender’s name, making the greeting more personal.

Recipients of the digital Friendship Band can, in turn, continue the chain by gifting a Friendship Band to someone else through the campaign page.

According to Airtel, the initiative aims to give a digital twist to the traditional exchange of Friendship Bands by combining a routine prepaid recharge with a personalized greeting, making it easier for customers to celebrate Friendship Day in an engaging and memorable way. [KNT]
