Memorandum Seeks Curbs on Political Access, Mobile Recording in Sensitive Hospital Areas
Srinagar, August 1, KNT: Health activist and former AIMSA Vice President Dr Mohammad Momin Khan has written to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha seeking strict enforcement of the ban on unauthorized photography, videography and mobile phone recording inside government hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir.
In a memorandum addressed to the Lieutenant Governor, Dr Khan expressed concern over what he described as increasing incidents of unauthorized recording within hospital premises, citing reported occurrences at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and Government Medical College Rajouri.
Referring to the July 30 incident in the Emergency Department of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, he urged the administration to issue comprehensive directions for prohibiting unauthorized photography and videography, regulating political access to sensitive clinical areas, strengthening security arrangements and ensuring the safety of healthcare workers.
He stated that such measures were essential to safeguard patient privacy, maintain hospital discipline and ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.
Dr Khan also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to direct the Health and Medical Education Department and all government healthcare institutions to strictly implement these measures in the larger public interest.
The memorandum seeks immediate intervention by the administration to strengthen protocols governing access and recording inside hospitals, particularly in emergency and other sensitive clinical areas. [KNT]
