Shopian, August 6, KNT: Shopian Police have registered two criminal cases in connection with the alleged use of firecrackers during marriage ceremonies in violation of prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate.

Officials said separate FIRs, numbered 148/2026 and 151/2026, have been registered at Police Station Shopian after fireworks were reportedly burst during wedding celebrations despite restrictions imposed by the district administration. The cases are under investigation.

The administration had prohibited the use of firecrackers in the district through an order issued by the District Magistrate, and police said the restrictions continue to remain in force.

Police cautioned that legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the prohibitory orders and appealed to the public to comply with the restrictions while organising social and public functions. [KNT]
