Kashmir University to Introduce Market-Driven Courses at Kupwara Campus to Boost Enrolment: VC Nilofer Khan
Kupwara, Aug 13, KNT: University of Kashmir Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan on Thursday visited the university’s Kupwara Campus and said the institution would take appropriate measures to address pending issues and improve student enrolment by introducing courses aligned with market demand.
During her visit, Prof. Khan acknowledged that enrolment at the campus remained a concern, with a significant number of students not opting for admissions to the courses currently being offered.
She said the university was open to introducing new programmes with greater market value so that students could find more relevant academic and career opportunities at the campus.
“Kashmir University has provided all the facilities here and we will take appropriate steps so that enrolment increases and new courses are introduced,” Prof. Khan said.
She clarified that the courses currently running at the campus would not be discontinued with the introduction of new programmes.
Prof. Khan said that when admissions were initiated at the campus in 2023, the existing courses had been suggested by the apex body concerned and were introduced accordingly.
“These courses as well as new courses will run in the campus,” she said.
The Vice-Chancellor said the university was working to resolve pending issues at the campus and would examine measures required to strengthen its academic offerings and improve enrolment.
The proposed introduction of market-driven programmes is aimed at making the campus more responsive to changing student preferences and employment requirements while retaining the courses already being offered. [KNT]
