Five-Day Search Ends as Missing Man’s Body Recovered in Bandipora

Bandipora, Aug 14, KNT: A five-day search operation in Bandipora ended with the recovery of the body of a missing man from Nalla Madhumati at Nathpora in Bandipora, bringing to a close an intensive operation involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police and local volunteers.
The body was retrieved from the water channel in the Nathpora area, with the recovery site also reported in the Zaalwan area of Bandipora.
The deceased was later identified as 31-year-old Showkat Ahmad Gujjar, son of Mohammad Gulab Gujjar, a resident of Yali Bonakoot.
The search operation had continued for five days after the man went missing, with SDRF personnel, police and local volunteers conducting searches in and around the water channel.
The recovery brought an end to the search efforts, while the body was taken into the custody of the concerned authorities for completion of legal and medico-legal formalities.
Police said that a case regarding the circumstances in which the man went missing and to ascertain the facts about the cause of his death has been registered. [KNT]
