Army Soldier Drowns in Gurez River

Bandipora, Aug 27, KNT: An Army soldier drowned in the Kishanganga River near Tarbal village in Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Ashiq Hussain Khan.

Following the incident, a rescue operation was launched, during which the soldier’s body was retrieved from the river.

The body was subsequently shifted to Dawar Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Police have registered a case to ascertain the circumstances under which the soldier drowned in the river. [KNT]
