CISF constable shoots himself dead with service rifle at Jammu Airport gate

Jammu, Sep 8, KNT: A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle at a gate of Jammu Airport on Tuesday, triggering panic among people after a gunshot was heard.

The constable was identified as Sunil Kumar Jasrotia, a resident of Kathua district of Jammu region who was posted with the CISF at Jammu Airport.

Following the incident, Jasrotia was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for treatment, where doctors declared him dead.

Police rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation into the incident. A case has been registered in connection with the death, officials said.

The reason behind the extreme step was not immediately known and is being investigated, officials said. [KNT]
