Leh, Sep 17, KNT: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Leh, has arrested a hairdresser after allegedly recovering 13.13 grams of a heroin-like substance from his possession during an operation based on specific intelligence input.

The arrested person has been identified as Jaskreet Singh, son of Dharmender Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, who is working as a hairdresser at a reputed salon in Leh.

According to the ANTF, the substance was recovered during a search conducted in the presence of a First-Class Magistrate. The task force said the suspect was subsequently arrested and that requisite legal procedures were followed during the operation.

Preliminary investigation, according to the ANTF, indicates that Singh was allegedly involved in supplying narcotic substances to vulnerable youth in Ladakh.

Following the recovery, FIR No. 15/2026 has been registered at Police Station ANTF, Leh, under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The investigation is underway to establish the source of the recovered substance and identify others who may be involved in its supply and distribution, officials said. [KNT]
