Srinagar, Oct 1: KNT: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against a Pulwama resident in a case involving an allegedly forged communication purportedly issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and addressed to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag.

The chargesheet was filed before the Court of Sub-Judge, Srinagar, in connection with FIR No. 29/2026 registered under Sections 204, 319(2), 336(2) and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The accused has been identified as Saqlain Mushtaq Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, resident of Deeri, Pulwama.

According to the Economic Offences Wing, the case relates to a communication prepared using a counterfeit official letterhead and forged signature, in which the sender allegedly impersonated the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The communication was purportedly addressed to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, and was allegedly intended to unlawfully influence the functioning of the Anantnag District Police Administration.

The Crime Branch said that during the course of investigation, the allegations and evidence collected were found to substantiate the commission of offences under the relevant provisions of the BNS.

The investigation has accordingly been concluded as “Proved” and the chargesheet presented before the court for judicial determination, the agency said.
