Srinagar, Oct 16, KNT: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Ward Officer of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Safakadal, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 from a resident to allow minor renovation work at the complainant’s house to continue.

According to the CBI, a case was registered following a complaint alleging that the accused officer had demanded ₹10,000 to permit continuation of the renovation work.

The agency said it laid a trap the same day and caught the Ward Officer red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the money from the complainant.
