Three Die, Minor Girl Critical in 4 Separate Suicide Attempts in South Kashmir’s Pulwama

Pulwama, Jan 1, KNT: Four persons attempted to end their lives in separate incidents across South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on the first day of the New Year, leaving three dead and a teenage girl battling for survival.

Hospital officials at District Hospital Pulwama confirmed that four individuals were brought in after consuming poisonous substances in different localities of the district. Despite medical efforts, three of them could not be saved.

In Malwari area of Newa, a 16-year-old Class 10 student allegedly died by suicide at her residence following a domestic dispute. She was declared brought dead.

In another incident in Bonar Pulwama, a 58-year-old farmer, identified as Abdul Rashid Najar, reportedly consumed poison outside his home and succumbed.

A third case was reported from Ratnipora, where 32-year-old Fayaz Ahmed Andrabi was shifted to hospital after allegedly ingesting a toxic substance. Doctors said he died during treatment.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl from Naro Pulwama was admitted in critical condition after consuming poison in an apparent attempt to end her life. Medical officials said she was under observation and fighting for survival.

Police have registered separate cases in all incidents and initiated investigations. [KNT]
