Minor Girl Dies, Mother Hurt in Road Accident in Central Kashmir

Budgam, Feb 16, KNT: A road accident claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl and left her mother injured in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday afternoon.

Official sources said the incident occurred near Bugam village when a motorcycle struck the minor and her mother while they were on foot. The bike, bearing registration number JK04K-4569, reportedly hit the pedestrians, causing serious injuries.

The girl has been identified as Qaira Mushtaq, daughter of Mushtaq Ahmad Kumar, an inhabitant of Kultreh Chadoora. She and her mother were immediately evacuated to Sub-District Hospital Chadoora for medical attention.

Despite efforts by doctors, the minor succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Her mother, who also sustained injuries in the accident, was later referred to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated further investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident. [KNT]
