Dead Dog Carcasses Dumped in Nallah Sukhnag, Beerwah Inhabitants Protest
Beerwah, Feb 20, KNT: Inhabitants of Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have expressed strong concern after unidentified persons allegedly dumped carcasses of dead dogs into Nallah Sukhnag, a key water body flowing through the area.
The incident has triggered anger among locals, who described Nallah Sukhnag as a vital source of water for several villages and an important ecological asset of the region. They fear that the dumping of carcasses could contaminate the water and pose serious health hazards.
Locals said the act reflects gross negligence and demanded that authorities identify and take strict action against those responsible. They urged the District Administration Budgam to conduct an immediate inquiry and ensure removal of the carcasses to prevent further environmental damage.
Locals also called for regular monitoring of water bodies and establishment of proper waste disposal mechanisms to prevent recurrence of such incidents. They stressed that rivers and streams are lifelines for rural communities and must be safeguarded from pollution.
The locals appealed to authorities to take concrete measures for protection and preservation of natural water resources in the interest of public health and environmental sustainability. [KNT]
