Srinagar, May 1, KNT: Senior National Conference leader Ali Mohammad Sagar on Wednesday accused former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed of deepening political divisions in Kashmir and alleged that his tenure contributed to the split within the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
Addressing party workers at the National Conference headquarters in Srinagar, Sagar claimed that Mufti’s policies during his tenure lacked substance and failed to deliver tangible relief to the people. He described the much-publicised “healing touch” approach as ineffective and accused the former Chief Minister of misleading the public.
The NC leader further alleged that political maneuvering during Mufti’s rule widened internal fissures within separatist ranks. He also criticized decisions taken during previous administrations, linking them to long-term political and security consequences in the region.
Sagar launched a broader attack on the People’s Democratic Party, accusing it of prioritising political interests over public welfare and failing to address basic concerns of the populace.
Looking ahead to elections, Sagar expressed confidence in his party’s prospects, asserting that the National Conference would emerge strongly across both South and North Kashmir. [KNT]
