Baramulla, Jan 14, KNT: A disturbing incident has shaken North Kashmir’s Pattan town after a 13-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a 30-year-old man, identified as Abdul Rouf Bhat of Raipora Palhalan. Police confirmed that the accused, along with his associates from South Kashmir, is currently absconding, and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend them.
According to residents of Shalapora Palhalan, the accused, described locally as a “lunatic,” carried out the crime with the help of his associates. The minor was taken to Sub District Hospital Pattan, where doctors confirmed sexual assault following medical examination.
A police official told KNT that the accused has gone underground. “We are trying to ascertain the identity of his associates who hail from South Kashmir. A manhunt has already been initiated to nab the culprits,” the official said.
Locals expressed outrage over the incident, demanding strict action against the perpetrators. They recalled that Rouf Bhat had previously been accused of molesting a girl but was allegedly released under political pressure. “We approached the Station House Officer Pattan, who assured us that the accused will be arrested within a day. We hope this time justice will be delivered,” locals said.
