CRPF Personnel Shoots Self to Death in South Kashmir’s Shopian

Shopian, Feb 27, KNT: A Central Reserve Police Force personnel allegedly died by suicide at a camp in the Batapora area of Shopian district on Thursday.

Officials said the Jawan shot himself with his service rifle. The deceased has been identified as Manish Kumar, a resident of Himachal Pradesh, who was posted with the 14th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force.

Preliminary reports indicate that the constable used his service weapon to shoot himself inside the camp. He was immediately rushed for medical assistance but was declared dead.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. Senior officers of the force have also taken note of the matter.[KNT]
