Jammu, Mar 1, KNT: Muslim community in the Bathindi area of Jammu gathered on Sunday to mourn the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed in coordinated United States and Israel strikes, Iranian state media confirmed.
Women, children and men assembled in Bathindi, visibly distressed, as they held prayers and offered condolences over Khamenei’s martyrdom. Eyewitness accounts showed mourners invoking traditional rituals and expressing grief over developments in West Asia.
The gatherings in Bathindi come amid broader demonstrations by Shia communities in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir following confirmation of Khamenei’s death. The reported killing of the 86-year-old leader, who had led Iran since 1989 and was a central figure in shaping its domestic and foreign policy, has triggered protests and mourning across several countries.
Authorities maintained a watchful presence in Jammu to ensure that mourning processions and public gatherings remained peaceful. Community elders called for calm while paying homage to the late leader’s memory.
