KIE Denies Link to Instagram Account Flagged by Srinagar Mayor
Institute Says Account Mentioned by Mayor Is Fake, Clarifies Wall Inscription Issue

Srinagar, Apr 6, KNT: Kashmir Institute of Excellence (KIE), a private educational institute in Srinagar, has clarified that an Instagram account referred to by Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattoo in connection with a reported FIR is a fake account and has no association with the institute.
The clarification came after the Mayor stated in a social media post that he had directed registration of an FIR against the management of “Kashmir Institute of Excellence” located at Paraypora in Srinagar under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Responding to the development, a spokesperson of the institute said the management has not violated any rule and that the social media account mentioned by the Mayor does not belong to them.
The spokesperson said the issue had earlier related to the inscription of the institute’s name on the front wall of the premises.
“We had simply inscribed the name of our institution on the front wall. The Mayor had asked us to remove it and we complied with the direction,” the spokesperson said while speaking to KNT.
He added that the institute removed the inscription after being asked to do so and that the matter had ended there from their side.
The spokesperson further said the Instagram account cited in the Mayor’s tweet is fake and does not represent the institute.
“The Instagram account he has taken note of is fake and it does not belong to us,” the spokesperson said.
He also stated that the institute has not received any formal notice in the matter so far.
Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattoo had earlier said in a tweet that he had asked for registration of an FIR against the management of the institute under relevant legal provisions.
The institute, however, maintained that it has complied with the directions conveyed earlier and denied any wrongdoing. [KNT]
