Srinagar, May 1, KNT: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has dismissed a government school teacher posted in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, citing security considerations, according to an official order issued by the General Administration Department.
The action involves Idrees Jan, a teacher at Government Middle School Kralpora in Kupwara district.
According to the order, the Lieutenant Governor approved the dismissal after examining the facts and circumstances of the case and the information available with the authorities.
“Lieutenant Governor is satisfied after considering the facts and circumstances of the case and on the basis of the information available that the activities of Idrees Jan, Teacher, Government Middle School, Kralpora, Kupwara are such as to warrant his dismissal from service,” the order said.
The order further stated that the Lieutenant Governor was satisfied that in the interest of the security of the state it was not expedient to hold a formal inquiry in the matter.
“Accordingly, the Lieutenant Governor hereby dismisses Idrees Jan, Teacher, Government Middle School, Kralpora, Kupwara from service with immediate effect,” the order reads.
The dismissal has drawn reaction from former President of the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum Abdul Qayoom Wani.
Wani said the decision appeared ambiguous until the facts behind the dismissal were made public or subjected to legal scrutiny.
“Dismissal of Idrees Ahmad, a teacher from Kupwara, from government service remains ambiguous until the facts are made public or subjected to the judicial system for legal proceedings,” Wani said.
He said sudden dismissal of a government employee in such a manner causes mental distress among employees and concern in society.
Wani urged the government to reconsider the decision and make the facts of the case public. [KNT]
