Budgam, March 11, KNT: The district administration on Tuesday carried out a seizure operation against an alleged illegal construction raised on Panchayat land in the tourism village of Kanihama in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The action was taken by officials of the Rural Development and Revenue departments following earlier communication from the Office of the Block Development Officer Narbal seeking police security to remove the structure.

The move is part of efforts by the administration to reclaim public land and prevent unauthorized construction on Panchayat property in the area.

Officials said the operation was carried out in the presence of revenue and administrative authorities along with police personnel to ensure the proceedings were conducted peacefully.

Sub Divisional Magistrate SDM Beerwah, Block Development Officer BDO Narbal, Tehsildar Magam and the Station House Officer SHO Magam were present on the spot during the seizure proceedings.

Officials said the team removed and took possession of the illegal construction raised on Panchayat land in Kanihama village.

The authorities had earlier sought police deployment from Police Station Magam to avoid any untoward incident during the removal process.

The administrative communication had fixed the date for the operation after earlier action was postponed due to security duties related to Republic Day celebrations.

Officials said the administration remains committed to protecting Panchayat land and taking action against unauthorized encroachments on public property. [KNT]
