New Delhi, March 21, KNT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, calling for unity, kindness and well-being across the country.

In a message posted on social media, Modi wished citizens on the occasion marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, emphasizing the values of brotherhood and harmony.

“Best wishes on Eid-ul-Fitr. May this day further brotherhood and kindness all around. May everyone be happy and healthy. Eid Mubarak!” he said.

The message comes as millions of Muslims in India and around the world celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with prayers, charity and community gatherings after a month of fasting.

Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the most significant festivals in Islam, symbolizing gratitude, compassion and social unity, and is traditionally marked by congregational prayers, festive meals and acts of charity.

Government officials said security and administrative arrangements were in place across major cities to facilitate peaceful celebrations, particularly at mosques and public prayer grounds.

Citizens across several states gathered early in the morning for Eid prayers, with authorities reporting orderly celebrations in most areas.

Eid greetings are traditionally exchanged across communities in India, reflecting the country’s cultural and religious diversity.

Modi has consistently extended greetings on major religious occasions, highlighting themes of unity and national harmony in his messages. [KNT]
