Srinagar, March 25, KNT: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Wednesday ruled out any possibility of a lockdown in the Valley, calling recent speculation “baseless” and urging people to avoid panic.
The clarification comes amid circulating rumours linked to global developments, prompting the administration to issue a public assurance on supply and security conditions.
He said essential commodities, including petrol, diesel and LPG, remain adequately stocked, with reserves sufficient for nearly two to three weeks. Continuous monitoring is in place to ensure uninterrupted availability.
“There is no such update from the government regarding any lockdown. If any decision is taken, it will be officially communicated,” Garg said.
He stressed that panic buying was unnecessary, noting that supply chains remain stable despite global volatility.
The administration also issued a warning against misinformation, stating that strict action would be taken against individuals spreading unverified claims.
“People should rely only on official government sources for authentic information,” he said.
On the security front, Garg said the situation remains unchanged and under regular review by the administration and police.
“There is no change in the security scenario. Tourist destinations are open and we are witnessing a significant inflow of visitors,” he said.
Authorities said tourist footfall has increased following the opening of the Tulip Garden, with the administration closely monitoring movement across key destinations.
Officials have appealed to tourists to visit Kashmir during the ongoing spring season, indicating confidence in stability and normalcy across the region.
The administration reiterated that both supply lines and public services are functioning normally, dismissing concerns of any disruption. [KNT]
