Srinagar, March 26, KNT: Kashmiri Pandits on Thursday marked the festival of Ram Navami by taking out a Shobha Yatra in Srinagar, officials said.
The procession, organized by members of the Kashmiri Pandit community, witnessed the participation of devotees who gathered to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Ram with religious fervour.
The event highlights the continued observance of traditional festivals by the minority community in the Valley, reflecting efforts to preserve cultural and religious identity.
Participants carrying religious flags and chanting devotional hymns moved through designated routes including City Centre Srinagar, under security arrangements put in place by the administration.
Officials said adequate security deployment was ensured along the procession route to facilitate peaceful conduct of the event.
Devotees said the festival holds deep religious significance and expressed satisfaction over being able to organise the procession smoothly.
“We are happy to celebrate Ram Navami here. It is an important festival for us,” a participant said.
Authorities monitored the event to ensure law and order, while traffic was regulated in affected areas during the procession.
Ram Navami, which marks the birth of Lord Ram, is celebrated across India with prayers, processions and religious gatherings. [KNT]
