Anantnag, April 16, KNT: Police in Anantnag conducted night operations at multiple locations and seized several vehicles involved in illegal mining, officials said on Thursday.
During the intervening night, a police team from Police Station Dooru intercepted and seized one JCB and five tractors allegedly engaged in unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals.
The vehicles were taken into custody and cases were registered under relevant provisions of law.
In a separate operation, Police Post Dialgam conducted a raid at Brinty Nalla in Dialgam and seized one JCB and two tractors involved in illegal extraction of minerals.
All seized vehicles have been taken into custody, police said.
Anantnag Police said the action is part of an ongoing drive against illegal mining and warned that strict measures will continue against those involved in such activities. [KNT]
