Budgam Police Arrest Drug Peddler in Chadoora, Heroin-Like Substance Seized

Budgam, April 19, KNT: Budgam Police on Sunday arrested a suspected drug peddler in the Chadoora area and recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession during a routine operation.

The action was carried out by a police team from Police Station Chadoora near Degree College Chadoora as part of ongoing efforts to curb narcotics-related activities in the district.

The accused has been identified as Mohammad Sahil Sheikh, son of Mohammad Himat Sheikh, a resident of Murshidabad in Kolkata, presently residing in Chadoora.

During personal search, police recovered approximately 4.96 grams of a heroin-like substance from his possession. The accused was taken into custody and the contraband was seized following due legal procedures.

A case under FIR No. 43/2026 has been registered at Police Station Chadoora under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police said the operation forms part of sustained efforts to dismantle drug networks and curb the spread of narcotics in the region.

Authorities also appealed to the public, including religious leaders, civil society members, and community influencers, to support efforts aimed at eliminating drug abuse and promoting a safer society. [KNT]
