Kulgam, May 14, KNT: Authorities in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday demolished three under-construction shops allegedly linked to a man accused in narcotics-related cases, officials said.
The action was carried out jointly by Kulgam Police and the district administration in Chinigam Frisal area falling under the jurisdiction of Yaripora police station.
Officials identified the accused as Jahangeer Ahmad Bhat, son of Ismail Bhat, a resident of Chinigam Frisal.
According to officials, the demolished structures were allegedly raised illegally and were linked to the accused, who is facing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The demolition was carried out after completion of legal formalities, officials said.
Police said the action was part of an ongoing crackdown against drug peddling networks and individuals allegedly involved in narcotics trafficking in the district.
Kulgam has witnessed multiple anti-narcotics operations in recent months as police intensify efforts against the spread of drugs in south Kashmir.
Officials said the campaign would continue and further action would be taken against those found involved in drug-related activities. [KNT]
