
Srinagar, May 14, KNT: The Special Crime Wing Kashmir of Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday conducted searches at multiple locations in Srinagar and Budgam districts in connection with an alleged land fraud case involving accusations of forged documents and criminal conspiracy.
Officials said the searches were carried out in connection with FIR No. 06/2026 registered under Sections 420, 468, and 120-B RPC.
The case originated from a complaint filed by a resident of Humhama, Budgam, who alleged that he was fraudulently duped of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of sale of land located at Narkara.
According to investigators, the probe has prima facie revealed that two accused, identified as Tariq Ahmad Sofi of Tulsi Bagh Srinagar and Tariq Ahmad Wani of Narkara Budgam, allegedly acted in connivance with a former Patwari to prepare and use forged documents linked to the land transaction.
Officials said the accused allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy to mislead the complainant and misappropriate money.
As part of the ongoing investigation, search operations were conducted in the presence of Executive Magistrates to recover incriminating material and other evidence relevant to the case.
Crime Branch officials said further investigation is underway.
The agency also advised the public to remain vigilant against fraud and report similar incidents to the Special Crime Wing Kashmir. [KNT]
