Woman Rescued After Attempting Suicide Near Dal Area in Srinagar

Srinagar, May 15, KNT: A woman was rescued after allegedly attempting suicide near Nanwai Market in the Dal area of Srinagar on Friday, officials said.

The woman (name withheld) aged around 45 to 46 years, was reported to be mentally distressed.

According to officials, the incident occurred near the Dal locality, following which a joint rescue operation was launched by personnel of the State Disaster Response Force, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local residents.

The rescuers successfully prevented the woman from taking the extreme step and shifted her to Police Post Hazratbal for safety and further assistance.

Officials said the woman was subsequently be handed over to her relatives.

The swift response by rescue teams and locals helped avert a tragedy in the area, officials added. [KNT]
