Baramulla, May 26, KNT: Panic gripped tourists at the famed Gulmarg Gondola on Tuesday after a sudden technical snag halted operations, leaving several passengers stranded mid-air before a joint rescue effort by Army and police personnel brought them safely down.
Officials said the gondola developed an unexpected technical fault while tourists were enjoying the ride, forcing the suspension of operations and leaving multiple cabins stationary.
The sudden stoppage triggered anxious moments among tourists and travelers trapped inside the gondola boxes suspended above the ground.
Army and police personnel, along with technical staff, launched a rescue operation soon after the malfunction was reported.
Officials said all stranded tourists were safely evacuated and brought down following coordinated rescue efforts.
The incident led to temporary suspension of gondola operations while technical teams assessed the snag and initiated inspection of the system.
Witnesses described tense scenes as stranded passengers waited for rescue after the ride came to an abrupt halt.
