Jammu, May 29, KNT: Copper wires of more than 17 air conditioning units belonging to different business establishments were stolen during a midnight theft at a commercial building in the Channi Himmat area of Jammu, leaving several offices and shops without cooling amid rising temperatures.

The theft occurred in the Channi Himmat locality, considered one of Jammu’s prominent commercial and residential areas.

CCTV footage obtained from the building reportedly shows two to three youth entering the premises during the night and removing copper wiring from multiple air conditioning units installed by various business establishments.

The theft has disrupted normal functioning at several establishments, with affected businesses reporting that their air conditioners had stopped working in the sweltering heat following the incident.

Locals and business owners expressed concern over the theft occurring in a posh locality and called for stronger night surveillance and preventive policing measures.

Police have taken possession of the CCTV footage and registered a case in connection with the incident. Further investigation has been initiated to identify and trace those involved. [KNT]
