
Leh, May 29, KNT: The Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has revised the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees continuing to draw pay under the 6th Central Pay Commission, enhancing the allowance from 257 percent to 262 percent of basic pay with retrospective effect from January 1, 2026.
The revision has been ordered by the Finance Department of the UT Administration in pursuance of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India notification dated April 22, 2026.
According to the order, the revised allowance will apply to employees of the Union Territory of Ladakh who continue to receive salary under the pay scale and grade pay structure of the 6th Central Pay Commission.
The Finance Department said the increase of five percentage points in Dearness Allowance has been approved by the competent authority and will take effect from the beginning of the current year.
The order also clarified the method of calculation and payment of the revised allowance. Payments involving fractions of 50 paisa and above will be rounded off to the next higher rupee, while amounts below 50 paisa will be ignored.
Officials said the revision has been issued in line with the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance guidelines and forms part of periodic adjustments aimed at offsetting the impact of inflation on employees covered under the older pay structure.
The order was issued by the Finance Department, UT of Ladakh, under the authority of Secretary Finance Dr. Laltinkhuma Franklin.
The notification has been circulated among administrative secretaries, district administrations and departmental heads for information and implementation. [KNT]
