Baramulla, June 13, KNT: In a humanitarian gesture, the Indian Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) assisted a bereaved family by recovering a vehicle that had plunged into a deep gorge following a fatal road accident in the Nilsar area of Chandoosa in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The Maruti Eeco vehicle had fallen nearly 200 meters into the gorge during the accident that occurred a few days ago.

The mishap claimed the life of Ishfaq Bashir Mir, who sustained critical injuries in the accident and later succumbed during treatment at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla.

Sources said the vehicle remained lodged deep inside the gorge due to the difficult terrain, making recovery a challenging task. Responding to the family’s distress, personnel from 52 RR launched an operation and successfully retrieved the vehicle from the accident site.

The effort was widely appreciated by local residents and family members, who described the operation as a significant relief during a difficult period.

The recovery operation brought closure to the family, which had been awaiting retrieval of the vehicle since the tragedy. [KNT]
