Jammu, June 23, KNT: BJP MLA Yudhvir Sethi on Tuesday joined protesting traders at Jammu’s Old Bus Stand and removed barbed wire installed in the area, backing shopkeepers who have been opposing restrictions on vehicular movement and access to the commercial hub.

The protest was organized by traders and business owners who alleged that restrictions imposed in the area had adversely impacted business activity and reduced customer footfall.

During the demonstration, Sethi removed sections of barbed wire that had been installed as part of traffic and access control measures, drawing the attention of traders and commuters present at the site.

Addressing protesters, the BJP legislator said the concerns of shopkeepers needed to be addressed and maintained that business establishments in the area were facing difficulties due to the restrictions.

Traders claimed that limited access to the market had affected commercial activity and urged the authorities to review the measures. They demanded restoration of easier access to the Old Bus Stand market and sought intervention from the administration.

The Old Bus Stand remains one of Jammu city’s prominent commercial centres, with hundreds of traders dependent on daily customer movement and transport connectivity.

The legislator alleged that administration are taking diktats to harass shopkeepers and deprive of their livelihood. He said that administration is suppressing the poor and weak and he won’t allow bureaucrats to muzzle the voice of his people. [KNT]
