Police Arrest Alleged Drug Peddler in Srinagar, Seize 22.24 Grams of Heroin

Srinagar, June 26, KNT: Police on Friday arrested an alleged drug peddler during a naka checking operation at Mal Tang, Dalgate, in Srinagar and recovered 22.24 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.

The accused has been identified as Umer Mushtaq Khan, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, a resident of New Colony, Sopore.

According to police, the accused was intercepted during a routine checking operation conducted by Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh. During his search, officers recovered 22.24 grams of heroin-like substance, Rs 8,000 in cash and a mobile phone.

The recovered contraband was seized and the accused was taken into custody.

Police have registered FIR No. 49/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended destination of the narcotic substance and to identify others, if any, involved in the network. [KNT]
