Srinagar Police Simulate Fidayeen Attack, Medical Emergencies in Amarnath Yatra Mock Drill

Srinagar, June 30, KNT: With the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra approaching, Srinagar Police on Tuesday carried out a large-scale multi-agency mock drill at the Transit Yatri Camp, Panthachowk, to assess emergency preparedness and strengthen coordination among security and civil agencies responsible for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
The exercise simulated a range of emergency situations, including a fidayeen attack, road traffic accident, law and order contingencies, accidental injuries, rescue and evacuation operations, and medical emergencies to evaluate the response capabilities of various agencies under near-realistic conditions.
Officials said the drill brought together personnel from Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Traffic Police, the Security Wing, Fire and Emergency Services, the Health Department, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Administration, Ambulance Services and other stakeholder departments.
Before the commencement of the exercise, participating agencies were briefed on their respective responsibilities and standard operating procedures, with emphasis on response time, communication, coordination and adherence to emergency protocols.
The authorities also reviewed arrangements relating to accommodation, food and medical facilities for pilgrims, which are being coordinated by the Civil Administration, CAPD, Revenue and Health departments under the Joint Police Control Room.
Following the exercise, senior officers held a debriefing session to assess the response of participating agencies, identify operational shortcomings and further strengthen the emergency response plan ahead of the commencement of the yatra.
Officials said the mock drill formed part of the overall preparedness measures to ensure the safe, secure and smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026. [KNT]
