LG Manoj Sinha Urges Unregistered Amarnath Pilgrims to Wait for Their Turn

Srinagar, July 5, KNT: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said this year’s Shri Amarnath Yatra has witnessed a significant increase in the number of pilgrims, including a large number of devotees arriving without prior registration, and appealed to such yatris to patiently wait for their turn instead of attempting to proceed without completing the mandatory formalities.
Speaking during his visit to the Yatra area, the Lieutenant Governor said he had closely observed the last four editions of the annual pilgrimage and noted that this year’s turnout has been exceptionally high.
“I have closely observed the last four editions of the Amarnath Yatra. This time, there has been a massive increase in the number of pilgrims. A large number of people are arriving even without prior registration,” he said.
Sinha said the Jammu and Kashmir administration, in coordination with the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, has made better arrangements than in previous years to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the pilgrimage.
“The administration and the Shrine Board have collaborated to make arrangements that are even better than before. I would urge all pilgrims who are not registered to wait for their turn,” he said.
Highlighting the healthcare facilities established for the annual pilgrimage, the Lieutenant Governor said a 100-bed hospital has been operational for the past two years to provide medical care to pilgrims and others.
He said the hospital is witnessing a heavy patient load, with nearly 2,500 people visiting its outpatient department (OPD) every day.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the coordinated efforts of the civil administration, healthcare workers, security agencies and the Shrine Board in ensuring that pilgrims receive better facilities and medical assistance during the ongoing pilgrimage. [KNT]
