The accused have been identified as Altaf Hussain Khan, then Naib Tehsildar Uri, and Pardeep Kumar, Patwari Halqa Uri.

The case stems from a complaint lodged by a resident of Uri on September 11, 2023, alleging that the officials demanded a bribe for providing revenue-related documents concerning a land dispute.
According to the complaint, the accused initially demanded ₹10 lakh, which was later negotiated to ₹1 lakh.
The complainant approached ACB Baramulla, following which a verification was conducted and a formal case registered.
During a trap operation, Altaf Hussain Khan was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹50,000 from the complainant, officials said.
The tainted money was recovered from his possession, and he was arrested on the spot before being produced before the court and remanded to custody.
The investigation also established the involvement of Patwari Pardeep Kumar based on evidence collected during the probe.
The chargesheet has been filed under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, officials said.
The court has fixed May 2, 2026, as the next date of hearing in the case.
Officials said this is the seventh chargesheet filed by ACB Baramulla in 2026 in different corruption-related cases. KNT]
