Delhi, Feb 25, KNT: The All India Medical Students Association has urged the Ministry of External Affairs to formally communicate with Iranian universities after several institutions reportedly stated that they had not received any official advisory from the Indian Embassy regarding evacuation or exam-related instructions.

Dr Mohammad Moomin Khan, Vice President of AIMSA, said universities including Urmia University in Iran issued notices stating that no formal communication had been received from Indian authorities. He said the absence of official correspondence has led to confusion among Indian medical students regarding examinations and return arrangements.

According to Dr Khan, other institutions including Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Shahed Beheshti University and Iran University of Medical Sciences have also indicated that they have not been informed by the Indian Embassy of any advisory concerning evacuation or postponement of exams.

A message circulated by Urmia University reportedly stated that since no official letter or notification had been received from the Ministry of Health, the university was not in a position from a consular perspective to grant permission for students to leave.

Dr Khan appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs to immediately issue formal notifications to all concerned universities to ensure that Indian students can return safely without facing administrative or academic complications. [KNT]
