Amarnath Yatra Pilgrim from Punjab Found Dead at Sonamarg Hotel

Ganderbal, July 3, KNT: A 40-year-old pilgrim from Punjab undertaking the annual Amarnath Yatra was found dead at a hotel in Sonamarg on Friday, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Narinder Kumar, son of Parminder Kumar, a resident of Barnala district in Punjab.

Officials said the pilgrim was found unconscious inside the hotel where he was staying. He was immediately shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sonamarg, where doctors declared him dead after completing medico-legal formalities.

Police have initiated inquest proceedings under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to ascertain the exact cause of death.
