Jammu, Feb 17, KNT: Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Vikram Randhawa on Tuesday withdrew his remarks made in the Legislative Assembly after facing uproar over statements perceived as targeting Kashmiris.

The controversy erupted after Randhawa, the other day, claimed during the session that Kashmiris had grabbed 90 percent of the Jammu Development Authority land in Jammu. The statement triggered protests from members across parties, who termed the remarks divisive and demanded their withdrawal.

Amid the uproar in the House, Randhawa clarified that his comments were not directed at any particular community. He stated that if his words had caused offence, he was prepared to withdraw them.

The clarification came after sustained objections from members, who insisted that such remarks could create unnecessary regional discord. The Assembly witnessed heated exchanges before order was restored. [KNT]
