Srinagar, Sep 29 KNT: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday again raised the issue of seeking the removal of the Speaker as proceedings of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly resumed amid heated exchanges.
The issue was raised at the beginning of the day’s proceedings, with the opposition reiterating its objection to the Speaker’s handling of the House during the previous sitting.
The BJP had earlier moved a motion seeking the Speaker’s removal, following disagreements over the conduct of proceedings and the manner in which the statehood resolution was taken up in the Assembly.
The issue triggered fresh protests in the House as members raised objections during the opening proceedings on Tuesday.
The Assembly subsequently proceeded with its listed business amid the continuing political differences over the Speaker’s conduct of the House.[KNT]
