Srinagar, Sep 28, KNT: BJP MLA R.S. Pathania on Monday informed the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly that the BJP had submitted a notice seeking the removal of Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
Pathania conveyed the matter to the Speaker during the ongoing sixth session of the Legislative Assembly.
The notice seeks to initiate proceedings against the Speaker in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures governing the Assembly.
The development comes amid continuing differences between the Opposition and the Treasury benches over the conduct of proceedings and the handling of various legislative matters during the current session.
The Assembly is currently holding its sixth session, which commenced on September 21 and is scheduled to continue until September 30.
The notice, however, represents a procedural development at this stage. Any further action on it would depend upon its consideration and processing under the rules of the House. [KNT]
