BSF Officer Killed After Being Hit by Vehicle Inside Camp in North Kashmir’s Kupwara
Kupwara, March 10, KNT: A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel died after being hit by a departmental vehicle inside a BSF camp in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Omprakash, son of Mukat Nath, who was posted with the 127 Battalion of the Border Security Force at a camp in Kupwara.
Officials said the incident occurred when a departmental vehicle inside the camp premises reportedly went out of control and accidentally hit the officer while he was performing his duties.
Following the incident, the injured official was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Kupwara for medical treatment.
However, doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead on arrival, officials said.
The body has been kept at the hospital for post-mortem examination before being handed over to authorities for further formalities.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated legal proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Officials said further investigation into the incident is underway and additional details are awaited. [KNT]
